Polska gościnność w Stanach – z wizytą u Sarah i Andrzeja
Losem rządzi przypadek i odrobina szczęścia. Bo jak wytłumaczyć fakt, że zostaliśmy skierowani na miejsce kempingowe w parku stanowym zaraz obok Andrzeja i Sarah?! Ale od początku. Zdecydownie rzadko zatrzymujemy się w cywilizowanych miejscach; głównie w parkach narodowych, gdzie nie można obozować poza wyznaczonymi, płatnymi miejscami, albo gdy w okolicy nie ma innego wyboru. Trzecią alternatywą jest chęć odrobiny luksusu w postaci prysznica lub gdy poziom zakurzenia widać gołym okiem. Tym razem zatrzymaliśmy się w parku stanowym …. i za 20$ mieliśmy luksus na wyciągniecie ręki. Cała infrastruktura turystyczna w Stanch, zarówno płatna, jak i nie, funkcjonuje bardzo dobrze. Po pierwsze istnieje, a po drugie jest zadbana i czysta, nawet w toi toiach przy drodze jest zawsze papier i to w nadmiarze.
A więc w przydziale dostaliśmy miejsce niedaleko centrum luksusu, pomiędzy dwoma miejscami już zajętymi. Pierwsi pojawli się sąsiedzi po lewej – Australijka i Kanadyjczyk i zaczeliśmy z nimi rozmawiać. Po jakimś czasie dołączył do nas sąsiad z prawej, dopytując Holland czy Poland? Oczywiście, że Poland odpowiedziałam ja, a następnie usłyszałam, że sąsiad jest z Wrocławia – oczywiście po polsku. No i zaczęły się długie Polaków rozmowy przy ognisku, wsparte produktem rozwiązującymi języki. Andrzej i jego żona Sarah wracali do domu, po kilkudniowej wycieczce. Nocne rozmowy zakończyły się zaproszeniem do domu. Sarah i Andrzej mieszkają w okolicy rzeki Columbia, która dzieli dwa stany – na północ jest stan Waszyngton, na południe stan Oregon. My aktualnie znajdowaliśmy się na południu stanu Oregon, przy samej granicy ze stanem Kalifornia. Ale nie mogliśmy oprzeć się pokusie i pojechaliśmy 500 km z powrotem na północ, tym razem nie wzdłuż wybrzeża, ale drogą stanową (czyli autostradą, czyli drogą, której unikamy ze względu na brak walorów krajoznawczych w połączeniu z wymiarem ekonomicznym rujnującym zasobność porfela).
Gospdarze oddali nam do dyspozycji pokój gościnny z łóżkiem. Jaka miła odmiana od materaca w namiocie. A że wszyscy byliśmy zmęczeni, a kolejny dzień zapowiadał się niesamowice, poszliśmy od razu spać.
Kolejnego dnia rano szybkie przygotowania i ruszamy na rzekę, z naszym kapitanem Andrzejem.
Poranek był pochmurny, ale i tak nie zmąciło to naszej radości. Z rzeki wszystko wygląda inaczej. Po południu wyszło słońce, a wieczorem wszyscy wyglądaliśmy jak raki. W domu czekała na nas kolacja przygotowana przez Sarah. Palce lizać. I rozmowy. O Polsce, o Amerykanach, o Filipinach, skąd pochodzi Sarah. Ta podróż ma sens jedynie jeżeli mamy możliwość zobaczyć z bliska życie w danym miejscu, porozmawiać o różnicach pomiędzy narodami, znaleźć wspólne podobieństwa. Taka wymiana to bogate doświadczenie, więcej niż wyczytana w książkach lub oglądana w telewizji. A co najważniejsze pozwala z bliska zapoznać się z kulturą odrzucając wszystkie stereotypy i uprzedzenia, dając się porwać czystej przyjemności słychania o rzeczach nam nieznanych i opowiadania o nas samych i naszej tradycji.
Kolejengo dnia, zgodnie z sugestią Andrzeja, zrobliśmy rundkę wokół rzeki, oglądając z lądu te rzeczy, które widzieliśmy z rzeki. Andrzej podał nam wszystkie współrzędne punktów wartych odwiedzenia i pomocne informacje, jak i gdzie zaparkować, w jakiej kolejności itp. Wycieczka zaplanowana, no więc w drogę. No i mogliśmy zobaczyć też samą rzekę. Szeroka, żeglowana rzeka, z pieknym kanionem.
Zwiedziliśmy też wnętrze elektrowni wodnej i drogę dla ryb, głównie dla łososi, które dwa razy muszą bezpiecznie pokonać tą przeszkodę. Przy tamie również zobaczyliśmy rodzinę lwów morskich, które przypłyneły tu na ucztę i zupełnie nie przeszkadzała im słodka woda w rzece. Wyglądały na przeszczęśliwe i utuczone. Również rybołów skorzystał z obfitości tego rzecznego stołu.
Kolejnym punktem programu była wspinaczka na Beacon Rock. Z rzeki skała wyglądała doniośle. Z bliska wyglądała jeszcze donioślej i wycisnęła z nas nie tylko siódme, ale i czternaste i nawet dwudzieste pierwsze poty. Jednakże szczyt został zdobyty! Umęczeni ale przeszczęśliwi wróciliśmy do naszych gospodarzy.
A tu znowu czekała na nas uczta przygotowana przez Sarah. Niesamowita Pani Domu!!! To była nasza ostania noc u naszych przekochanych gospodarzy. Rozmowy zakończyły się prawie nad ranem. Dostaliśmy nawet jedzenie na drogę. Niesamowite osoby! Polska gościnność nawet po 50 latach spędzonych poza granicami Polski! Wielki szacunek dla Was!
Sarah, Andrzeju, jeszcze raz bardzo dziękujemy Wam za wspólnie spędzony czasu i że daliście nam możliwość zobaczenia waszego życia z bliska. Dziękujemy za gościnę i liczymy, że jeszcze się z wami spotkamy – może w Meksyku a może w Europie.
A my udaliśmy się kolejny raz na południe, tym razem wschodnią częścią stanu Oregon, czyli prawie pustynią, do miejsca, do którego nie było nam po drodze wcześniej, ale teraz jak najbardziej. Następnym razem zabierzemy was do jeziora w kraterze wulkanu.
