Na prom w Viktorii na wyspie Vancouver nie mieliśmy rezerwacji, no bo po co. Czas mamy, więc nie ma gdzie się spieszyć i rezerwować na wyrost. A co jeśli nam gdzieś się spodoba i chcelibyśmy zostać dłużej?! Przyjechaliśmy około trzy godziny przed planowanym promem. Poinformowano nas, że na prom o 10:30 mamy 30% szans, na następny o 15:00 już 80%. Czekaliśmy grzecznie w kolejce na swoją kolej, już przy samej burcie widzimy wnętrze promu prawie całkowcie wypełnione. Samochód przed nami wjeżdża i obsługa wciska go pomiędzy zaparkowane auta. Nasza kolej. Sergio kierowany przez obsługę wciska się pomiędzy burtę i rząd aut – 10 razy do przodu, 10 razy do tyłu – i parkujemy centymetry od zderzaka, jakoś tak na ukos. Po nas wjeżdża tylko jedno auto, tylko dzięki temu, że UMM jest dosyć małym autem jak na warunki amerykańskie. Uff udało się. Mamy zostawić samochód z zaciągniętym hamulcem i iść na gorę. Nie wygląda, żeby ktoś miał ładunek przymocować do pokładu. Rejs ma trwać 1,5h. Jest nawet internet dostępny. Po jakimś czasie widzimy wieloryby – dość daleko, ale wyrażnie widać fontannę i ogon wystający ponad powierzchnię wody. Promem zaczyna kołysać na boki na tyle, że Sergio wychodzi na zewnątrz zaczerpnąć powietrza 😉 Marzena martwi się o samochód, który na pewno „zaparkował” samoistnie na lśniącym nowością sąsiedzie. Niepotrzebnie. Wszystko przebiegło ok i znowu jesteśmy na amerykańskiej ziemi, a dokładnie na półwyspie Olimpia. No i najważniejsze – płyneliśmy po Pacyfiku. Jeszcze nie moczyliśmy stóp ale na wszystko przyjdzie czas.
Nocujemy w lesie deszczowym. Wilgoć dookoła i nawet z góry leci kapuśniaczek. Czekamy w samochodzie na poprawę, która nie przychodzi. No cóż w Kanadzie składaliśmy namiot w ulewie, więc teraz go otworzymy w lżejszym deszczu. I tak jest przecież mokry już.
Jedziemy wzdłuż zachodniego wybrzeża na południe. Przejeżdżamy stan Waszyngton, graniczną rzekę Kolumbia i jesteśmy w Oregonie.
Jak byliśmy jeszcze w Yellowstone kontaktowałam się z Andreą i Thomasem, których poznaliśmy na statku, i mówili, że będą krecić się przez około miesiąc w pobliżu Eugenie?! Może tym razem uda nam się spotkać?!
Ogólnie historia naszych spotkać jest dość … skomplikowana. Jeszcze w Halifax, zaraz po przybyciu, umówiliśmy się na wspólną wycieczkę na półwyspie Cape Breton. Ciężko było zgrać termin, bo nam coś wypadło naraz i musieliśmy zwolnić tempo jazdy, oni znowu byli gdzieś indziej, a to pogoda niedopisywała. No ale ostatecznie udało się. Umówionego dnia zajechaliśmy na umówione miejsce i czekamy na nich. Wieczorem chcemy rozbić namiot i … okazuje się, że Marzena zostawiła kluczową składową namiotu około 250 km stąd, na miejscu ostatniego noclegu. Nic, musliśmy wrócić – po nocy i w deszczu. W międzyczasie Andrea z Thomasem przyjechali, nas nie zastali, wysłali sms gdzie są. My na drugi dzień przyjchaliśmy, ich nie zastaliśmy, sms nie dostaliśmy (nie mieliśmy zasięgu) i się nie spotkaliśmy. Później okazało się, że byliśmy w odległości 10 km od siebie. Nic, nie udało się tym razem. Do spotkania doszło dopiero po paru tygodniach w prowincji Quebec. Tym razem okazuje się, że dzieli nas tylko godzina. Było spotkanie, były rozmowy, był spacer po plaży. Następne spotkanie w Utah jak się uda.
